JIGHR advances global health research with a focus on equity, providing a rigorous, peer-reviewed, open-access platform for scholarship that drives sustainable, equitable health outcomes worldwide and is freely accessible to all.
The Journal operates under a fully open-access model, levying no article processing charges or subscription fees. This ensures that research findings remain freely accessible to scholars, practitioners, and the public, irrespective of geographic location or institutional affiliation. Through a rigorous, peer-reviewed editorial process, the Journal provides researchers with a platform to publish high-quality scholarship that upholds the highest standards of academic integrity.
Scope & Focus
We publish work in the areas of:
- Global health, with a special emphasis on health equity
- Sustainable global health equity practice and innovation
- Interdisciplinary approaches to public and population health
We welcome research articles, review articles, and commentaries - including case studies, innovative practice approaches, and peer-reviewed research such as randomized controlled trials. All content is published in English.
Editorial Standards
Every submission moves through a multi-stage review process. A Student Editor first conducts an initial screening against the Journal's guidelines and a standardized rubric, checking formatting, ethical considerations, completeness, and scope alignment. Submissions that pass are assigned to two reviewers, typically including a Senior Associate Editor whose expertise matches the manuscript's subject, for full peer review of originality, methodology, results, and adherence to ethical standards. A Senior Associate Editor conducts a final readthrough, and a Chief Editor makes the final decision on acceptance, revision, or rejection. Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and author review before publication.
