Abstract

This conversation occurred in Melbourne in July 1987. Fay Zwicky had recently returned from the United States where she had been writer in residence at the University of Central Florida, a position she was holding at the University of Melbourne when this interview took place. As an American traveling for the first time in Australia, Ray Willbanks was especially interested in Fay Zwicky's opinions on questions that were arising as he listened to Australian academics and writers discuss Australia and its literature in the pre-bicentennial year.
