Abstract
Annamarie Jagose was born in Ashburton, New Zealand, in 1965. Her book Slow Water won the 2004 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and was short-listed for the Miles Franklin Award. Jagose has published two previous novels, In Translation (1994) and Lulu: A Romance (1998). On staff at the University of Melbourne’s English and Cultural Studies department since 1992, she specializes in queer theory, lesbian and gay studies, and feminist criticism.
