Abstract

This poster will focus on a tool we have made to streamline the process of reviewing faculty publications, most often via their CV, for deposit and self-archiving in a Institutional Repository. The tool uses an HTML/CSS webpage for the front-end, a MySQL backend, and pulls in publisher self-archiving policies via the SHERPA/RoMEO API.

Many libraries are beginning to review faculty CVs for publications that can be deposited in their Open Access Institutional Repository. SHERPA/RoMEO, "...a searchable database of publisher's policies regarding the self- archiving of journal articles on the web and in Open Access repositories," is primarily how librarians decide if publications can be deposited in their IR. Our tool provides a single point of interaction for querying SHERPA/RoMEO, making decisions on a publication by publication, article by article, basis, and aggregating those decisions in a fully editable report that can be sent directly to faculty to obtain their permission for deposit.

The poster will outline the overall CV review workflow, and how the tool aims to streamline the process. We have made the tool freely available on Github, with installation and configuration instructions provided.
