Abstract
The angle of femoral torsion was studied in 186 femora. Of these, 176 femora belonged to embryos, fetuses and infants whose CR lengths and ages were carefully recorded; and the remaining 10 femora were from adults of known age and sex. The angle of femoral torsion was 9.75° at the 12th week and zero degrees at the 14th week of the intrauterine period. Subsequently, the angle of torsion increased from 12 weeks onward till 36 weeks. During the 37th and 38th week of intrauterine life, and the first and second year of postnatal life, there was gradual detorsion of the angle until the torsion angle became 9.6°.
