Abstract
In addressing the theme of Storytelling and Creative Aging, it is essential to address the question of teleology, that is, of how the ineluctably fixed ending to our varied personal narratives shapes the narrative form, and how embrace or denial of its ultimate impact colors the stories’ effects. As a path into this vast topic, I explore three personal role models—Rainer Maria Rilke, William Butler Yeats, and my own father—whose searching engagements with the terminal episodes of their life stories have inspired me in embracing my own.
