Development Indices of Maturity in Females

Abstract

This paper examines the developmental maturity of a national sample of eleven year old girls, on the basis of age at menarche, and stages of breast and pubic hair development. The correlation between breast deveb opment and pubic hair development is r = 0.72 and the correlation of these with age at menarche is r = —0.51 and —0.45 respectively.
