Abstract
Significant differences are found in variability and in prevalence of abnormality of several dental occlusal features among rural and urban Bengali male youths. This confirms a broader trend in world populations. Among a variety of socio-environmental factors determined through interviews, the masticatory resistance provided by unprocessed dietary staples shows the strongest independent contribution to the differences.
