Abstract
Women of reproductive age in Western Samoa were tested for hematological status. The study found strong relationships between hematological competence and age, the regions where the women lived, and whether they were pregnant or had just delivered. The findings suggest that there are subtle environmental differences as well as traditional cultural practices that contribute to the findings.
