Abstract
Degree of facial and body hair was scored on clinical examination of 23 healthy East Asian adults and 23 healthy Euroamerican adults. Significantly more body hairiness occurred in Euroamerican than Asian subjects. However, testosterone levels (total and free) did not differ between the two racial groups. It is concluded that genetic factors rather than hormone levels lie behind the hirsutism differences.
