Abstract
Associations among the length of 19 tubular bones of the hand were studied on standardized radiographs of 85 adult Japanese males. A row-related factor regulating the interrelationship of the bones was suggested by multiple and partial correlation analyses and was manifested by a factor analysis with factor rotation. Four factors were extracted corresponding to four rows of the bones: the metaearpals, the proximal phalanges, the middle phalanges and the distal phalanges. The first proximal phalanx, however, was classified into the category relating to the middle phalangeal row.
