Abstract
Among 11 Chinese, 13 Indian and 11 Malay sehool girls aged 12-16 years, there were no significant differences between groups in anthropometric measurements, pulmonary function or maximal work capacity. Maximal oxygen uptake averaged 1.477 1/min.; 34.5 ml/kg/min. Compared with other populations vital capacity and total lung capacity were small for body heights, but cardiorespiratory fitness was comparable.
