Abstract
Both early and late maturing girls continue to increase in absolute and relative fatness after menarche, gaining about 4.5 kg of fat from menarche to age 18 years, when mean fat is 16.0± 0.3 kg, 28% of body weight. A nomogram estimates total water as percentage of body weight (the ratio of total water to body weight x 1(H)), an index of fatness, from the height and weight of a girl, and shows the normal pattern of changes in fatness of girls at each adolescent event from initiation of the adolescent growth spurt to maturity.
