Abstract

Our previous report systematically overreported the birth weights by approximately 8.8%. Birth weights of American Indians are corrected and supplemented on the basis of 44,269 recorded births. Among 26 tribes, represented by 119 to 13,080 births of known weight each, mean birth weights range from 3.15 kg in Hopi to 3.48 kg in Cheyenne.
