Abstract
Questions of political conflict, ritual narration, and economic crisis swirl around “The Coming of the Milesians,” a myth performed by contemporary Irish storyteller Clare Muireann Murphy as she tours the world. This case study considers the contested meanings that arise from such questions and offers an interpretive framework for considering traditional narratives that cross national borders through the activities of traveling storytellers.
