Personal Information

Wayne State University (WSU) Press receives and securely stores only the personally identifiable information that you choose to share directly with us. These types of information include your e-mail address, mailing address, or affiliated institution. This information is required to maintain electronic subscriptions.

WSU Press does not sell, share, or trade any personally identifiable information collected. We may periodically send out e-mail notices, news, or other updates about the Press and its book titles, journals, and/or events and promotions, but those will only be sent to individuals who have specifically requested to receive such notices. Protection of Payment Information and Third-Party Disclosure

For your safety and protection, your credit card information is not stored on WSU Press’s servers. Our two payment gateways, PayPal and Authorize.Net, keep this information secure and encrypted on your behalf.

Subscriptions are completed through WSU Press’s Shopping Cart, with credit card information processed through PayPal, one of the most secure e-commerce payment and money transfer businesses on the Internet. Your information is protected and secure during transmission using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. When you purchase a subscription to a journal through WSU Press’s shopping cart, you are also sharing information with PayPal. Pay-per-view transactions are processed through Authorize.Net, one of the Internet’s largest secure payment gateway service providers. Authorize.Net adheres to strict industry standards for payment processing. Your information is protected and secure during transmission using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. Authorize.Net is compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) as Level 1 service provider. PCI DSS is the bankcard industry’s most stringent security standard. Wayne State University Press utilizes a third-party software and hosting vendor, Berkeley Electronic Press, to host and maintain its journals. BePress has access to user accounts only for the purpose of technical support. For more information, please read BePress’s privacy policies.

Digital Commons@WSU is administered by Wayne State University Libraries (WSULS). Digital Commons@WSU complies with WSULS’s strict privacy standards. For more information, please read WSULS’s privacy policies.

Google Analytics

Digital Commons@WSU utilizes Google Analytics to collect data about its visitors, helping us analyze how users use the site. The tool uses “cookies,” which are text files placed on your computer, to collect standard Internet log information and site visitor behavior in an anonymous form.

Google Analytics records information about what website you came from, how long you visited the site, what pages are visited on the site, the type of computer you are using and your browser type, as well as your geographic location via IP address. This information allows us to better understand the type of users of Digital Commons@WSU, as well as what content they are reading. We use this information to compile aggregate statistics about the number of visitors Digital Commons@WSU receives and from what locations. No personal identifying data is included in this type of reporting, all of which falls within the bounds of the Google Analytics Terms of Services.

We will never (and will not allow any third party to) use the statistical analytics tool to track or to collect any personally identifiable information of visitors to Digital Commons@WSU. Google does not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google, nor will we or Google seek to link an IP address with the identity of a computer user.

WSU Press does not accept returns and/or refunds on any electronic content, including, but not limited to, journal pay-per-view articles, journal electronic subscriptions, and ebooks. Once purchased, the content cannot be returned or refunded.
