Mechanistic studies and practical applications of stereoselective glycosylation
Abstract
This thesis describes the investigation of the importance of the O 2 -C2 -C3 -O3 interaction in the 4,6-O-benzylidene-directed β-mannopyranosylation and alpha glucopyranosylation, the stereocontrolled synthesis of D-and L-β-rhamnopyranosides by means of 4-O-6-S-α-cyanobenzylidene-protected 6-thiorhamnopyranosyl thioglycosides, and the 4-(tert-butyldiphenylsiloxy)-3-fluorobenzyl group as a new alcohol protecting group for the direct stereocontrolled synthesis of β-mannopyranosides.
