How to Handle Research Migration: Cross-Repository Relationships in Action

David Scherer, Purdue University - Main Campus
Brittany Blanchard, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Prescott

Program Description

While Institutional Repositories by their nature are tied to their home institutions faculty and their research may at times migrate from institution to institution. Beyond just individual faculty, this migration can also ring true for entire research groups and centers. When this happens, what happens with the publications of that research center? How can institutions present a concise representation of the research output of a research center that has moved?

From 1991 to 2013 The Airline Quality Rating Reports (http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/aqrr/) were a published through a joint research project between Purdue University and Wichita State University. Beginning in 2014, the Airline Quality Rating Report (AQRR) is now a joint research project funded as part of faculty research activities at Wichita State University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

This presentation will discuss the steps that were taken to ensure a seamless transition of the reports from Purdue e-Pubs (http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/) to Embry-Riddle’s Scholarly Commons (http://commons.erau.edu/), while also ensuring a connection and continued point of access of the reports produced from each institution. This presentation will also discuss the value and benefits of cross-institutional and cross-repository based collaborations and services.
